Thread of strikers (strikers and second strikers because we started to play with 2 up front) since 2009/2010
Starting in the 2009/2010 season. Porto had 5 strikers in the squad. André Claro, Kalidou Yero, Orlando Sá no data on these 3 bc they barely/didnt play) Ernesto Farías and Radamel Falcão.
Ernesto Farías- arrived in the 2007/2008 season and left in the 2010/2011 season. Scored a total of 29 goals and gave 11 assists in 78 games (3342 minutes). In the 2009/2010 season he scored 10 goals and made 3 assists in 27 games (907 minutes)
Radamel Falcão- Arrived from River Plate in 2009/2010 to replace Lisandro Lopez who was sold to Lyon. Played 43 games (3470 minutes) scored 34 goals and made 10 assists.
Moving on to the 2010/2011 season. Porto had 2 strikers in the first team, Radamel Falcão and Walter "Bigorna" Silva.
This was Falcão's last season. He scored 38 goals and made 7 assists in 42 games (3317 minutes)
Walter "Bigorna" Silva arrived from Internacional to be the alternative to Falcão once Farías left. In 2010/2011, Walter scored 10 goals and gave 3 assists in 25 games (954 minutes)
Next season was the 2011/2012 (obviously). By far the worst group of strikers i can remember, poor Vitor Pereira.
Once Falcão left we signed Janko from Twente and Kleber from Atlético Mineiro and kept Walter
Walter played 8 games (444 minutes) and managed to score 6 goals and give 3 assists. Ended up being loaned to Cruzeiro and Góias.
Marc Janko arrived from Twente in the Winter market. Played 12 games (888 minutes), scored only 4 goals. Will only be remembered for trying to bang Maxi Pereira.
Kleber arrived from Atlético Mineiro. God knows how he played 33 games (1826 minutes) and managed to score 10 goals and give 3 assists
Moving on to the 2012/2013 season. Porto had 4 strikers in the team. Liedson, Jackson Martinez, Kleber and some mf called Dellatorre (not gonna give that on him only played for the B team)
Kleber stayed from the previous season. Barely played as he played only 281 minutes(10 games) and scored 1 goal. Was loaned to Palmeiras where he barely played as well.
Liedson is a Sporting legend and still wanted to plat for the biggest portuguese club. Arrived in January, played a total of 68 minutes and will only be remembered for assisting Kelvin in that magical goal that out JJ on his knees.
Jackson Martinez was (and still is) the best striker since Falcão left. Arrived from Jaguares de Chiapas (back when Porto had good scouts). Scored 31 goals and gave 3 assists in 43 games (3798 minutes)
Moving on to 2013/2014. This season was so tragic my lord this team was horrendous and the coach was equally bad. We had only 2 strikers Nabil Ghilas( what the actual fuck) and we kept Jackson.
Jackson kept being a goal scoring machine and showing he was a worthy replacement for Falcão, even tho this was his "worst" goal scoring season for us. Played in 51 games (4368 minutes) scored 29 goals and gave 3 assists. Only missed 2 games in the whole season.
Jackson´s main substitute was Nabil Ghilas and that explains why Jackson played 4368 minutes of the possible 4770. Ghilas arrived at Porto from Moreirense, played na amazing amount of games for his quality at 35 (1088 minutes) scored 4 goals and gave 6 assists.
Next season was the 2014/2015. We spent a shitload of Money and played beautiful football although we severely underachieved. Our strikers were Gonçalo Paciência (barely played for the A team so no data), Adrian Lopez, Vincent Aboubakar and Jackson Martinez
Adrian Lopez arrived from Atlético Madrid with high expectations. Didn't respond well to all the hype around him and was extremly disappointing. Played 18 games (723 minutes) only scored 1 goal and dished out 4 assists
Aboubakar arrived from Lorient to be the alternative to Jackson. He did extremely well in a reduced number of games as he banged 7 goals and gave 4 assists in 20 games (1022 minutes)
This was Jackson's last season and the last big season from a Porto strikers. This was also the season where he played the most and was more productive as he took part in 42 games (3511 minutes) scored his highest tally for us in 32 goals and had 7 assists
Moving on to the 2015/2016 season a very poor and disapointing one as well as there wasd, once again a lot of investement and a lot of good football but a lot of underachievment. We had 5 strikers in Marega, Aboubakar, Osvaldo, Suk and André Silva
This when the Marega shithousery started. 1 glance at him and we immediately knew he was gonna be a nightmare to watch. He played 13 games (500 minutes) scored 1 goal and had 0 assists
Osvaldo came here to collect his check and be a Johnny Depp lookalike. Took part in 12 games(469 minutes) actually scored 1 goal and gave 2 assists
Suk came in mid-season from Vitória Setubal and nobody understood why. He didnt have what was needed to play for us and it showed. Still played 14 games (704 minutes) scored 2 goals and had 2 assists
André Silva played mostly for the B team but still managed to "dar uma perninha" in the First team. Played in 14 games (799 minutes) scored 3 goals and gave 3 assists. Also averaged 50 cpf (creamed porto fans) per game
Aboubakar improved on his 2014/2015 as he became the main striker in 2015/2016. Played 42 games(3066 minutes) scored 18 goals and gave 3 assists.
Moving on to 2016/2017 season. This is the season when god knows why we decided to play 2 up front. Decent team but a bad offensive team we missed a shitload of goals. The striker were André Silva, Tiquinho, Adrian Lopez, Depoitre, Diogo Jota and Rui Pedro
Depoitre is a signing that nobody understands, did absolutely fuck all for us. Played in 13 games (579 minutes) scored 2 goals and gave 1 assist.
Adrian Lopez- came back from a loan at villarreal and ended up making 9 games without any g/a contributions before he was sent back to Villarreal again.
Soares came in mid-season after a good 2 and a half years in the portuguese league (for Nacional and Vitoria). Started off hot for us with a brace in a Classico against Sporting and went on a 6 game scoring streak. Played 17 games (1437 minutes) scored 12 goals and gave 2 assists
Rui Pedro, played mostly for the B team but still managed to put in 13 games (236 minutes) and scored 2 goals, one of which was a winner vs Braga in his debut
Diogo Jota came in on a loan from Atlético after a big season in Paços de Ferreira. He as good the shades od what he could become was there. Played 38 games (2056 minutes) scored 9 goals and assisted 7
André Silva. Became the main striker and responded well although if I remember correctly he missed a looot of goals even tho he was our best scorer. Played in 44 games(3399 minutes) scored 21 goals and had 9 assists. Increased his cpf (creamd porto fans) from 50 to 100
Moving on to the 2017/2018 season. New coach (y'all know who) new gameplan and it actually turned out really well. Our strikers consisted in Majeed Waris, Gonçalo Paciência, Tiquinho Soares, Abouba, Marega and André Pereira (barely played)
Majeed Waris the manager requested him and Waris still managed to only play 8 games (231 minutes) and didnt give a single g/a contribution
Gonçalo Paciência started the season on loan at Vitória de Setubal but was recalled, nobody really knows why bc he was being good at Vitória. After being recalled he played 12 games (255 minutes) and only made one assist.
Tiquinho kept his level on about the same as the last season. Scored 11 goals and gave 7 assists in 34 games (1698 minutes)
Aboubakar had his best season for Porto this season after coming back on loan from Besiktas. Exploded in a partnership with Marega and, in 43 games (2971 minutes), he scored 26 goals and had 7 assists
Marega had his only decente season for Porto in 2017/2018. Played in 40 games (3301m) scored 23 goals (god knows how) and had 8 assists.
2018/2019 season is the next one and this is where it gets worrying and makes me depressed just thinking about it. Marega, Abouba, André Pereira, Adrian Lopez, Tiquinho and Marius (barely played) were our strikers
André Pereira was recalled the year before from Setubal and in 2018/2019 was actually a regular presence in the First team as he had 23 games played (1023 minutes) scored 3 goals and assisted 2 times. Useless player
Aboubakar barely played due to injury (ACL tear). He had 11 games (589 minutes) and still scored 4 goals and had 2 assists.
Adrian Lopez had by far his best season in 2018/2019. SC played him quite a while in the position where he would be at his max and it showed as he played 25 games (1113 minutes) and scored 6 goals while giving 4 assists
Tiquinho had his best season in a Porto uniform as he stepped up and took Abouba's spot. Played in 41 games (2841 minutes) scored 23 goals and assisted on 7.
Marega started his yearly decrease of production in 2018/2019. Had 47 games (3955 minutes) scored 21 goals and had 11 assists. Imo this was the season where we should have sold him.
Moving on to last year 2019/2020 and this was (not counting this one) the season when our strikers where most stagnant and we clearly needed changes. We had Fábio Silva, Zé Luís, Marega, Aboubakar and Tiquinho as strikers.
Starting with Zé Luís who our coach was so in love with that we had to pay 11M for this piece of shit player. Played 31 games (1744 minutes) scored 10 goals and had 2 assists. Had a shitload of injuries, horrible signing
Tiquinho went on several runs without scoring and showed that he was past his Porto times. Played in 48 games (2765 minutes) scored 19 goals and made 3 assists
Aboubakar came back from injury this season and still had time to give us a masterclass against Young Boys when he scored a brace. Only played 10 games tho (204 minutes) and that brace against Young Boys was his only 2 goals of the season
Marega continued his downward spiral from 17/18 giving us his worst season (so far relax) where he played valuable minutes. Took part in 45 games (3605 minutes) scored 15 goals and had 9 assists
Fábio Silva made his debut in 2019/2020 for us. He came highly rated as a youth prospect and although he had a some games for the B team he was always around the First team. He played in 21 games (531 minutes) and scored 3 goals and had 2 assists.
on to this season(2020/2021) where we have been awful as a team even tho we have the best strikers in years and, much due to the coach, our attack hasn't been good. Marega, Evanilson, Taremi and Toni Martinez are our strikers. 6 games till the end of the season.
Evanilson came in on the low from Tombense/Fluminense and has been a really good surprise. He has played, till now, in 21 games (but only has 531 minutes) and has scored 4 goals and given 0 assists. Has been better than Marega
Toni Martinez came in after a wonderful season at Famalicão. He is a spark of energy from the bench and always gives hie all even tho his all isnt that much. Played 22 games (but only 753 minutes) and scored 5 goals including a beautiful chilena. Has been better than Marega
Taremi came in after being a revelation on Rio Ave. Amazing striker, he gives his all every game and he is so good. Had a stupid spell in the beggining of the season when he barely played but still has 42 games (2570 minutes) 18 goals and 13 assists scored. WAY better than Marega
Marega has been the absolute worst player i remember seeing in a Porto uniform (on pair with Zaidu and Sarr). Horrendous player only has 5 goals in 2021.. Played till now in 42 games (3094 minutes) and has 12 goals and 5 assists as the most used striker.
As you can confirm from this thread Porto has had his fair share of good strikers, but the quality of these has reduced a lot since Jackson left having only found out this year a true replacement for him.. much to the coaches fault
Falcão, Jackson, Taremi, Aboubakar and André Silva is my top 5 and Suk, Depoitre, Janko, Ghilas and Marega are the worst 5.
