2/ I refuse to show the video that was shared by one of the teenagers assaulting the teen because I am tired of seeing Black trauma porn.
The fact that there has been SILENCE on this story is telling & further shows our own issues w systemic racism in this country + province

3/ The lack of action from @edmontonpolice is not surprising but is also a reflection of a much bigger issue. So many posted black squares last June but when it comes to actually protecting/standing up for black/brown/BIPOC folks, the majority still continue to do nothing

4/ I can assure you that if this was a white child, my feed would be flooded but the unfortunate reality is that when people witness injustices against Black/Brown folks the default is still to turn the other cheek and ignore. THIS IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.

5/ Action and activism cannot only rest on the backs of Black/BIPOC folks, this has to be a collective effort in order for things to change. Change happens RIGHT WHERE TOU ARE. Make calls, talk to your family/friends, raise awareness, speak out against

this epidemic of systemic racism because this is absolutely an epidemic that most don’t want to address, because the comforts of privilege rooted in white supremacy are far too great of an asset to risk.
