Mavs vs Lakers re-match today (thread)

1.) pick and roll defense on Schroder
2.) rebounding (limit 2nd chance points)

Schroder scored 25pts on 9/13 FGs. 2 of 4 misses were Richardson blocks. I would like to see Josh as the primary on-ball defender on Schroder from the start.
Mavs played conservative scheme with the bigs in drop, so fighting over screens, recover and rear-view contest is crucial

A lot of Richardson's criticism on offense is valid, but on D I think his strengths are a bit limited by the Mavs defensive system.
He's been one of the best block-guards throughout his career, here's his block rate this season per @cleantheglass

If KP is out, maybe Dallas can mix their defense a bit with WCS who is their most agile & flexible big on D.
In the current scheme vs guards like Schroder, I think Richardson's speed and rear-view contest abilities are more suited than DFS.

Mavericks missed Cauley-Stein when he was out because of covid protocols. He has the best on/off data on defense.
WCS mobility gives the team more flexibility on defense (when he's focused&locked in) in terms of coverages.
WCS vs Lillard earlier in the season.

Of course, Mavericks put Richardson as questionable tonight as soon as I tweeted this thread lol
