Background: The tour that was to be June 2020 was rescheduled to June 2021, and then this week was rescheduled again to August 2021. Do those two extra months make all the difference? I think they do. 2/x

There'll be a point at which things will be as good as they are going to get in our country. Anyone who wants a vaccine could get one. I think we'll be looking at that in August, barring any new variants, and with the approval of the Pfizer vaccine for the 12-15 age cohort. 3/x

We won't see the vaccine uptake by then that we'd like to see, but that'll be a matter of "freedom" (for the GOP death cult) by that point and there won't be much we can do about it. "It is what it is" is going to be said a lot around that time. 4/x

We're going to see things like concerts start back up with a "get busy living or get busy dying" attitude (even if that "or" should be an "and" for the willfully unvaccinated). It's going to stink for those with compromised immune systems or those that can't be vaccinated. 5/x

We may see additional spurts of vaccine uptake when people like, say, Ted Nugent catch a variant and get real sick and tell the true believers that they were wrong and should get vaccinated. But there will always be that limit dictated by the hardcore GQP. 6/x

So I think we're really not far from the "living with it" stage of COVID, and the next three months will be a transition to it. The vaccines will allow many of us to go about our business, and I think businesses are going to be there to meet demand, including concerts. 7/x

I still can't picture going to a concert with all the people around me shouting and singing and dancing but maybe by August I'll be able to. Concerts are a favorite communal experience for me - so much joy in the celebration of music with others. I look forward to it. 8/8
