my soundscape threads ㅡ https://twitter.com/hoseokmymuse/status/1364840181564465159?s=19
bts has come a long, thorn-ridden way to get to this point where general public, fellow artists, industry insiders, music critics, the whole nine yards look forward to their music. their musical journey from 2 cool 4 skool (2013) to MOTS 7 (2020) in the soundscape field is ++
explained by me in this thread. we have talked about the development of their lyricism a lot of times,, but now let's talk about the general point of the songs' flow and instrumentals, specific points like how well they blend e/o's voices in the songs, add several sound ++
effects,, to how their use of autotune can embellish some songs while take away from others. they started with basic hip hop genre, now they make musical outlook on almost every genres (which also includes "ballad"). the landscape of music always changes with age and bts is no ++
exception ㅡ but what remained constant was their feature of "story telling". like pop & rock, kpop isn't just a genre; it's a culture which needs to be interpreted through their performance & musical arrangements. thanks to @pddogg, @hitmanb & @BTS_twt for making these hits ♡.
• ㅡ 2 Cool 4 Skool (2013)

the main genre of this album is "hip-hop"; composed of traps, high hats and tight bass. vocally, "growls" are used in an enormous amount and rap wise, you'll notice how between each rhythm there exists a "trap" (it's a sub genre under hip hop), ++
yes, that's what makes bangtan 'distinctive' even in their debut year. the song "like" ㅡ has touches of both 'pop & kpop' genre. the presence of slow beats, piano chords makes the song stand out in the entire album.

Intro: 2 Cool 4 Skool ㅡ Outro: Ego
• ㅡ O!RUL8,2? (2013)

solely kpop. but "We On" is a trap. personally, I love this album a lot because the composition already stepped up its game from the previous album. the way they added some real fun tracks in this album, like "Attack On Bangtan" & "Paldogangsan" which ++
adds spice to the album. "coffee" is once again the exception in the album, with a slow beat & acoustic guitar. personally "We On" stands out for me, because it was 2013; the high bass & traps they used blew my mind.

Intro: O!RUL8,2? ㅡ Interlude: Shadow
• ㅡ Skool Luv Affair (2014)

genre is kpop, but the type is hiphop. songs like "boy in luv", "jump", "cypher pt.2" gives such a sna feel. again, songs like "where you from", "spine breaker" give off so much fun energy. personally, the production of "tomorrow" stands out ++
a lot for me in this album. they used electric guitar in hoseok's verse (fyi: I'm mentally married to hobi's verse in 'tomorrow'). then, "just one day" shows another side of bts ㅡ slow jams & cheesy vocals.

Intro: Skool Luv Affair ㅡ Intro: Persona
• ㅡ Dark & Wild (2014)

musically, my most favorite album; I have reasons ! this album seems to be their turning point (musically), because till the skool luv trilogy they were very basic with only hiphop & kpop as their genre & one song from each album as an exception with ++
slow jams. the story is different here; this album has the max usage of "growling rap", "rock-electric vibes" & "best production concepts" ㅡ the best example are "Let Me Know", "Danger" & "2nd Grade". D&W just skyrocketed bts' standard right from the year 2014 ㅡ a massive hit.
• ㅡ The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.1 (2015)

they introduced "sound effects" to this album. hyyh pt.1 was inclusive of edm & dance-pop along with kpop & hip hop. the instrumental of "boyz with fun" had the most funky production, while "I need u" contains precious ++
edm production. the use of high-energy stacked vocals, electronic string was very unique & alluring in "dope". this album was the beginning of a new journey right after some cool concept of "dark & wild'.
• ㅡ The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.2 (2015)

the beats are crazy. i didn't notice they used such electric guitar and heavy bass for "run". also, the hidden vocals of "silver spoon" omg !! and the entire production of "autumn leaves" ㅡ even "ma city" has an incredible ++
composition, kinda hiphop with electrified strings. the usage of electric guitar is really impressive with the concept ㅡ youth & happiness. the flawless vocal leads & synth are the attraction of this hyyh era.
• ㅡ The Most Beautiful Moment in Life : Young Forever (2016)

the beautiful beginning of piano notes in "butterfly" is so heartwarming, this album is the epitome of "musical beauty". the boom-bap bass in "young forever" has already been explained by me in one of my previous ++
threads. speaking about "house of cards" instrumental; I've heard it a lot of time ppl call it "sensual" ㅡ actually, it's "rhythmic"; generically a mixture of jazz & pop. (I'll make a detailed thread on that later.) "whalien 52" has one of the best melody in bts' songs.
• ㅡ Wings (2016)

this album is superior performance wise; this era marks the tremendous growth of their vocal skills and how trained they became gradually. through out the album they used classic synthesizer keys, dramatic string instrumentals along with crazy beats. ++
in "boy meets evil", "bst", "lie", etc. they didn't constrict music within just melody & beats, they added art to it. they built up an atmosphere of edm in songs like "2!3!" & "21st Cent Girls". the artistic use of piano and violin in "first love" & "awake" is breathtaking.
• ㅡ Love Yourself 承 ‘HER’ (2017)

this is the album of edm. bts made their first collaborative song "mic drop" featuring @steveaoki which was definitely a banger ! the song, is the main song of "her" with the alluring 'whistle' & electric guitar section. I just loved how ++
they used both minor & major keys in "best of me" giving it an enthusiastic beat ! I have a lot to talk about "pied piper" for which I'll make another thread. just know, "her" is one of the top 3 best produced album by tannies, because of the incredible sound effects !!
• ㅡ Love Yourself 轉 ‘TEAR’ (2018)

this album is my favorite album lyrically, because musically this also falls under edm. songs like "the truth untold", "fake love" are purely edm while "Airplane pt.2" has this latin touch on it. this album is absolutely perfect to perform ++
on huge arenas & concert halls !! the energy these songs exhibit is immense. they even have hip-hop basic with lots of traps and syth. "outro : tear" is certainly my most favorite track in this album, production wise ㅡ it's just incredible with the diverse influences & effects.
• ㅡ Love Yourself 結 ‘ANSWER’ (2018)

again, the base genre is edm but mixed with edm ballad. "epiphany", "answer: ly" are the two most significant examples. the instrumentals of "serendipity" & "answer : ly" sounds like the euphonious music made by the constellations ++
glimmering in the universe. they give so much comfort, apart from their vocals & lyrics. this album is rich with expressive and magnificent vocals.
• ㅡ Map Of The Soul : Persona (2019)

the genre is bts-pop !! the instrumental of "make it right" & "boy with luv" is so classic; one melody is repeated in the entire song, but does it feel boring? not at all.. because of the different vocals skills applied by the members. ++
the synth & traps used in "home" is so impressive & 'orginal'. now, let's talk about "dionysus" ㅡ the instrumental is simply "rock & classic". I gotta make a detailed single thread for this particular song, this album is short but is the "queen of variety".
• ㅡ Map Of The Soul : 7 (2020)

honestly, this is the most diverse album I've ever seen by any artist ㅡ you'll find ALL the genre(s) of music in this album. the orchestral or edm version of "black swan" & "louder than bombs" is exceptionally good. Honestly, the variety ++
of cultural genres portrayed through this album is only possible by bts. the spanish/latin touch on "filter" is so well-represented. the different sound effects used in "ugh!" & "wabte" is just so impressive. it's a lengthy album but worth listening.
that's all !! I didn't do "BE" since it's a self interpreted album produced by the members themselves, didn't want to bring them in here lol. I hope you liked reading this thread, let's take a moment and appreciate tannies' discography because they are rich in quality 💖
