Greenwald didn't "turn right," he's always been reactionary. If instead of self-criticizing we indulge in cheap narratives of betrayal we will repeat them.

In fact, those insisting that we tolerate Chinaphobes for the sake of "lefty unity" are diving head-first into it!
People who claim Greenwald "turned" are just refusing to admit they didn't know or care about his history.

He started by defending Nazis in the 90s, then wrote this in the 2000s. It wasn't a secret. He didn't change.

People just compromised their principles for him.
It's just one thing after another... https://twitter.com/shelostcontro1/status/1321983673701437441
This is pretty much exactly what I think you should *not* do.

I reject American values, especially their "Free Speech" based around defending comedians who use slurs. https://twitter.com/LocalAreaSam1/status/1385959799729246212
What do I want? I want people to stop normalizing lack of principles by saying stuff like this:

>But like everyone he has shitty takes sometimes.

It simply isn't true.

Not everyone blares out their uninformed opinions in the form of a "shitty take." https://twitter.com/TheGreeneBJ/status/1385961752601452558
Michael Parenti has some positions I disagree with (e.g.: assessment of China in Friendly Feudalism), and yet I can appreciate his thoughtful rationale.

I simply don't forgive "shit takes" unless they come with an explanation and a retraction. If that makes me a purist so be it.
