People who *can* pressurize the government to keep the country open belong to the affluent class. People who *will* disproportionately suffer in case our health systems collapse is the working class.

Rocket science nahin hai yeh samajhna.
I know Imran Khan ne poora saal "ghareeb ka kya hoga" ka manjan becha hai.

But SOPs were meant to be the last resort. A way to arm essential workers to minimize risk to health. They were not meant to be the norm for everyone.
Neither mosques, nor wedding halls had any reason to remain open during the pandemic. They weren't kept open because Imran Khan was worried about the lower income group.

There was literally no reprioritization to strengthen your public spending programs in last year's budget
despite knowing we are in the middle of a pandemic. That we were already burnt. That for as long as we are in the middle of this apocalypse we can shift resources to providing relief for the working class.
Even right now, the pressure groups that can force the government's hand to keep the country open during eid season, are not the working class dependent on daily wages.

They are powerful, influential traders who will not get lathi charged for keeping their shops open.
"The babus want the country open, so go risk your lives to earn barely liveable wages as we do nothing to support you in these times despite being given the option" is not the pro-poor policy the government has convinced everyone that it is.
