A while ago, @HaveringCyclist complained to @LBofHavering about bringing cycle lanes within LTN1/20 guidance after 750mm wide lanes were put back on White Hart Lane. They were told that the lines couldn't be removed & redone as it would damage the surface (some truth in that)
A list of planned surfacing schemes were provided to the campaign and luckily nothing else was slated. Except Collier Row Lane which they forgot about. The old 1,200mm lanes were repainted. @HaveringCyclist raised it again. Internally it appeared that LTN1/20 wasn't really known
about and so I put together a quick policy sheet to explain the issue to make things easy as possible. No idea if this has stuck yet, but there shouldn't be any other resurfacing schemes to chase down for now.
Today, I happened to see a freshly resurfaced Shepherds Hill & while this has nothing to do with cycling, it does show, in fact, that when a centre line is incorrectly installed it's apparently fine to burn it off and replace with hatching (which I have no view on for this site).
No huge point to this thread other than to point out the inconsistency of approach and lack of learning within the authority. Hard to have a pop at individuals in a very short staffed highways department after quite a lot of people have left.
The issue here for me is a complete indifference from the senior officer and political leadership; the latter of which gave promises on cycling last August, but not a thing has appeared in reality.
