I was reading the Tim Scott/Washington Post think and it reminded me that the news media hasn't done anything to try to understand conservatives who are minorities, even after the 2020 election saw a sizable Latino/Asian/AA shift to the right.
If a non-conservative publication is trying to hire anyone who comes from a minority background, they're basically looking for a stereotype, very culturally liberal person. They aren't interested in the median (moderate) person from those backgrounds, let alone a conservative one
You would think after an election with a surprising shift in voting the news media would try to be more representative and include those people, understand them, share their narratives and worldviews. But that just isn't happening, they didn't budge at all.
I'm sure many of them are telling themselves that, but even putting the 2020 election aside, more African Americans ID as moderate/conservative than liberal. Around half of Hispanics generally oppose abortion. Does that line up with media presentation? https://twitter.com/PatriceJeanB/status/1385834900566257664
The viewpoints shared by the majority of white liberals are very common in media, but the viewpoints shared by the majority of AAs/Hispanics aren't.

Someone like say, Glenn Loury, is about where the median AA person is, politically. Instead, Ibram Kendi has the Atlantic column, he's the frequent cable news guest, and is getting millions from donors to helm his own center at a university.
