One big instance of anime nazism that thread missed - which is kind of odd, given the sheer magnitude of it - is the Principality of Zeon from Kidou Senshi Gundam.

Zeon are a nazi allegory and it is about as subtle as pepperspray. It is also an *in depth* nazi allegory, because what people forget is that Hitler did not rise to power by magic.

Zeon's rise, like that of nazi germany, was fueled by justified anger. And like nazi Germany, that anger was used by power hungry evil people to bring about fascism.

At the end of the first world war, the allies made Germany *pay* for the costs of the war.
The value of the deutchmark was driven *underground.*
The first world war was not a battle for justice, either. Even as wars go, it was meaningless.

Zeon started as an independence movement and was then twisted by the Zabi family into a powergrab.
This is a major plot element.

In the UC gundam series, the earth government are never the "goody guys."
But Zeon is always, always, ALWAYS unambiguously the bad guys.
