I appreciate your amazing work on this but let's not twist his word. He isn't saying that MPs from PH or anyone for that matter, shouldn't support abolishing the Sedition Act. Issue is when PH was in power, they had the chance to repeal it but they didn't. https://twitter.com/syahredzan/status/1385711729846341634
You can say that they didn't have enough time to do it, or that the Minister in charge was not keen on repealing but if that's the case, this was definitely not in their top priorities lah kan? I mean, sempat je PH abolished GST but I guess Sedition Act is just too complicated?
To see MPs from PH tweeting "Sapot!!!" when we talk about abolishing the Act is pretty insulting, honestly. What were you doing when you were in power? Were you busy playing chess then?
Civil societies, NGOs & National Young Lawyers Msia (that Syah is/was involved in) did almost all the grunt work & campaigns to make sure that the Act would be abolished. If MPs think tweeting "saya sapot!!!" or "Mansuh Akta Hasutan" is all it takes, keep the tweets in the draft.
