Lies about Kumbh Mela & Covid:

I'd filed an RTI with CMO Haridwar asking how many Covid-19 tests were conducted in the 14-day period from 1st April to 14th April at Kumbh Mela.

Remember: over 3.5 million people bathed in the river on just ONE DAY so imagine the footfall.

Turns out ONLY 62,507 RT-PCR tests we conducted in TOTAL in 14 days. That's about 4464 tests per day.

Also, 2,21,693 Rapid Antigen tests were conducted in 14 days. That's about 3x more than RT-PCR tests which are FAR more accurate.

(2/7)
Also, 2397 samples found +ve on 62,507 RT-PCR tests conducted. That means 3.83% of those tested were Covid +ve.

And ONLY 1237 samples were found +ve in 2,21,693 Antigen tests conducted.

That means ONLY 0.55% tested Covid +ve on Antigen which shows the "accuracy".

In summation, Haridwar administration claims that ONLY 3634 people out of 35 lakh people attending Kumbh Mela tested positive for Covid-19.

That means only 259 positive cases per day.

Which means ONLY 0.1% of 35 lakh people at Kumbh tested positive.

This is bullshit!

Questions remain:

1. Why were 3x more inaccurate Rapid Antigen Tests conducted rather then RT-PCR?

2. How were samples collected? How many people with symptoms were even tested?

3. How on earth can it be explained that only 3500 out of 35 lakh+ people tested positive?

The Modi govt not only allowed over 3.5 million people to gather in the middle of the severe 2nd wave for weeks but also grossly underreported numbers to hide the magnitude of Covid-19 cases at Kumbh Mela.

Many people returning from Kumbh have died or are in hospitals now

It makes one shudder to think of the number of returning pilgrims from the Kumbh Mela that have carried the virus with them to their respective states.

Most states have also been too overburdened to track & test these returning pilgrims.

We are MASSIVELY screwed.
