I'm feeling a funky off my 2nd dose of vax, but I will do the best I can to tell you as much as I can right now. Here is the outline version: It's not just cause of "bee slavery", even though that is a reason and a valid one.
It's bad for the bees who are very intelligent. It's bee vomit. That is food for the bees and you are stealing it. Factory farm bees honey is frequently replaced corn syrup which is unhealthy for the bees.
Also, because of demand alot of honey is fake or adulterated. Factory farm bees are sprayed with pesticides while they are being used as pollinators for various fruits and nut trees.
And don't think those small farmers are cool. Every single one is different. So if you still want to keep eating honey, you need to really research who you are getting it from.
Even the best situation is exploitative. They basically trap the queen by cutting off their wings and keep her from finding new hives. If they have a particularly rogue queen, they murder her and find a replacement for the hive.
Honey Bees are an invasive species from Europe and displace native pollinators and aren't even the best pollinators for the plants they are frequently used on.
That was enough for me, obviously people need more of a hard sell on this one. So I don't expect changed minds just from this post, this post is more for people who are already eating a plant-based diet and still eating honey.
