To my fellow converts/reverts, particularly those of you very new to the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (saws)-

You may have noticed, or will soon, that not all of your brothers, and sisters seem welcoming to you. You may find this a troubling discovery, but allow me to reassure you.
We who submit to Allah (swt) number approximately 1.6 billion humans. That's what we are, human. Were you to gather a couple dozen people, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, or so on, you would more than likely have at least a couple jerks. Maybe even someone truly terrible.
That's true even amongst Muslims. A person's recognition, and submission to our Creator (swt) isn't an instant cure for ignorance, bitterness, or hatred. It's a step on the path, and some may take longer to reach the point where the hate falls away, and some may never reach it.
Those who are unkind, or cruel aren't knowledgeable, or wise, they aren't your judges, nor are they more worthy to be Muslim. They like all things in this life are a trial.

'Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried?' -Qur'an 29:2
Trials are opportunities -

Aishah (ra) narrated that:
The Messenger of Allah (swt) said: "The believer is not afflicted by the prick of a thorn or what is worse (or greater) than that, except that by it Allah raises him in rank and removes sin from him."

Jami` at-Tirmidhi 965
We submit to, and rely upon our Creator (swt), and follow the example of His Messenger (saws). Faced with difficulty we turn to Allah (swt), ask for ease, patience, guidance, and strength, and say Alhamdulillah! When He (swt) grants relief, we're grateful, and say Alhamdulillah!
