...those aren't "creators" now, are they?

Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Black Panther was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Wonder Woman was created by some dude name Marston and Harry Peter.

None of whom are black.
This is a point I will never budge on.

This sort of creative bankruptcy is essentially plagiarism. Taking an existing character, editing it a little, then passing it off as your own.

That shit doesn't fly with me.

You're not a creator. You have made nothing.
Honestly, there's a reason I don't like Western comics and it's the permanence of continuity.

The real creators, the original writers and artists, they're gone. Marvel and DC just sit on the creative works of other people and sell them perpetually.

I don't like that.
I like it even LESS when newbies fiddle with those characters and then pretend they've MADE something.
There is value in writing stories using someone elses characters.

That is still a story you're telling.

But it is not an original work. You cannot lay claim to everything within.

That bugs the shit out of me.
This has gone on far too fucking long.

Make.

Something.

New.

No "Thor but girl" or "Wolverine but girl" or "Captain America but black." Make an original character. Write that original character. SELL that original character.
What's that, you can't make money doing that?

Why not? Works for Japanese mangaka. Works for independent comics. Webcomics. Etc.

It's not that it can't be done. It's that YOU can't do it.

You're not talented enough.
The Western comic industry is failing and the answer is just to keep hiring the same wokescolds to fuck up existing continuity and yell at fans.

There's no SUPPORT for good new ideas.

Just parasites who hate their job and the people they write for.
I won't miss it when it's gone.

Honestly it's not dying fast enough for my taste.

Marvel and DC have been riding their own coattails since before I was born and the outfit is threadbare.
