One year ago today, Jenna Gets An Abortion premiered online. We’d originally planned a festival premiere...but didn’t get in. Then we organized a theater screening...and the pandemic hit. We made a film where NOTHING GOES TO PLAN and then life imitated the fuck out of art. 1/5
The thing is, despite nothing going the way we expected, this film has changed my life. It’s changed @jono_thon’s, too. The number of people and the caliber of people who have seen and loved Jenna blows me away every day. 2/5
Despite an intensely disappointing start, this film got seen. It opens doors and hearts alike, and I am so proud of the entire community that came together to get it made and welcomed it into the world with such love on April 23, 2020, in spite of the circumstances. 3/5
Some stories live inside you forever. Some stories BEG to be let out. I’m so glad we listened to Jenna when she came knocking at our ribcages. If you’ve got a tale to tell, y’all, share it. Trust that the right people will hear you, find you, and lift you up. 4/5
