If someone enjoys Continental and they find it faster for themselves great.
But, can we please, for the love of knitting, QUASH this myth that Continental is inherently faster, ie better than English. 1/x

I just read a comment in another space where someone said they find Continental so much faster and love it, except for the purl stitch which they find too loose. So, that's why they only knit garter. 2/x
Only wanting to knit garter is a legitimate choice for your knitting life. You're the boss of your knitting. But, giving up on half knitting in the name of "speed" is odd to me. 3/x
This leads me to the topic of the over-emphasis on speed. I myself resort to clickbaity titles on some of my videos to trade on people's desire for speed. But, I do try to use that as an opportunity to dismantle the idea that speed is a measure of how well someone knits 4/x
Yes, there are extraordinary knitters who knit at incredible speed. It's amazing. It's Olympian. But, it's also not achievable or even desirable for most knitters. It's like a weekday runner comparing themselves against Usain Bolt. 5/x
Want to be a more productive knitter? You're unlikely to achieve by gaining more stitches per minute. You will become a more productive knitter by gaining proficiency and dedicating more time.
Okay, rant over. 6/6
