“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.” – Isaiah 53:3-7
LIGHT FOR NOW: Man’s disobedience did not take God unawares.
LIGHT FOR NOW: Man’s disobedience did not take God unawares.
From our careful analysis of Genesis 1:1-3 in tandem with the New Testament where we have the revelation of the Old Testament, it can be deduced that the bible opens up with redemption.
So, salvation or redemption was not a plan God put in place after man sinned; salvation was in place before man sinned. Simply, let’s ask, where did man sin? Man sinned in Genesis 3. But where do we see God’s redemption plan in prophetic utterance?
In Genesis 1.Genesis 1 and Genesis 3, which one precedes the other?Genesis 1. So, salvation or redemption preceded the sin of man and even preceded the creation of man.
In other words, if salvation or redemption preceded man’s fall, then man’s fall was not a shock or surprise to God; man’s fall did not take God unawares, why?
It is because God already accommodated man’s fall in Genesis 3 in Genesis 1; hence, Moses’ words “And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep” and the solution to this state of man in darkness as “And the spirit of God moved upon the face…
…of waters. And God said light be”.
So, when God gave man His word in Genesis 2:16-17 to believe (that is, to eat of the tree of life which implies faith in Christ), He knew that man will reject His word in unbelief (that is, eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil), so He accommodates that choice of…
…unbelief of man where sin is found and death in it in Genesis 1. God is not responsible for man’s choice of disobedience; rather God accommodated man’s choice of disobedience ahead of time.
That is why God said “Thou mayest fully eat” (Genesis 1:16-17); meaning, man had a right to make his choice in that he has been given the autonomy of his will and thus, God will not interfere or usurp a man’s choice since He is not a tyrant.
But since He is a loving God, He warns man ahead of time the choices that if made contrary to His word will land him in a state spoken of in prophetic utterance which is “And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep”, which in other words…
…means man will die (spiritual death).
Just like life was in the light or the tree of life which are both figurative of Christ, then death will be in darkness (and the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep) or the tree of knowledge of good and evil which are both figurative of…
…sin or man’s choice of disobedience. So, as a loving God, He offers man His plan (the light; the tree of life) and accommodated man’s choice of unbelief in His plan ahead of time (Genesis 1:1-3) so that salvation will not be God reacting but pro-acting. Hallelujah!
