we can infer that teshin's time with the dax was Not Fun, everyone and everything he had was ripped away from him in a terrible war after which he was evidently one of very few survivors (not that the orokin didnt deserve to die, but for the dax that must've been horrific!),

and he still has so much compassion for the tenno... despite the orokin painting them as uncontrollable monsters, he knew them to be traumatized children whose terrible circumstances were -- like other orokin subjects -- far beyond their control,

and he goes out of their way to mentor them, he warns them when he knows he may be forced to bring them / their warframe to harm, he risks his wellbeing and his life for them and expects absolutely nothing from them in return. he's one of the few adults in the wf universe...

who DOESN'T parentify the tenno or hold them on some pedestal expecting them to act as his savior bc they've got a cool meatmech. and i understand that DE can't write EVERY adult character to do that bc then there would be no gameplay in wf, but teshin's character is so unique...

and so poignant in that regard bc he is one of the ONLY characters who don't expect this Actual Child to risk themself for him. and then DE just like.... completely forgot about his existence until they brought him up again YEARS later just to trash his character. jesus christ!

and like jupiter has said, he absolutely should've had an arc where he's able to actually process his trauma and his grief, and let go of his idea that he "failed" the orokin and has to "redeem" himself for it, etc... but DE's clearly not capable of handling him respectfully. so.

teshin and ordis are / were both in a weird place where, like, they're really actually the most selfless and loving characters in the entire fucking wf universe, but everyone thinks or used to think that they were annoying and useless and whatever,

but where DE & the fandom have definitely moved away from being obnoxious about ordis, DE seems to just be willingly buying into people's weird and often blatantly racist, antiblack misinterpretations of teshin's character. so. idk. i can't take that in good faith

then we get The "i knowingly use the tenno as my personal child mercenaries and show no concern for their wellbeing" Lotus being set up as our Primary Parental Figure in their stead and even after her heelturn ppl are still like PLEEEEAAASE I WANT MOMMY LOTUS BACK it's very weird

i'm sure i've said it before but i feel like DE really wrote themselves into a corner by making the tenno child soldiers and then making so many other NPCs aware of that fact but still evidently willing to exploit them??? tbh i often think it really just should not have happened,

bc then you get characters who are otherwise perfectly compassionate (like... everyone on fortuna) but are still like "i'm 100% willing to send this 13-year-old and their mutated, formerly-human, sentient fleshmech to do work for me instead of my own agents, for some reason"

but i guess that also explains why DE expects us to be really upset by the lotus' return to the sentients even though she was introduced solely for the purpose of giving directions in-mission and has frankly done virtually nothing for the tenno beyond that
