"But I don& #39;t have enough followers" It doesn& #39;t equal money. It& #39;s reach, that can help and cannnot.

"But charging little and doing more is my livelihood" I understand but this method full time is unsustainable. You& #39;ll be burnt out and/or in physical pain in very little time.
"But my art sucks!" That& #39;s subjective. What& #39;s OBJECTIVE is that your time is worth a minimum wage in the western market and it& #39;s AT THE VERY LEAST 20 USD per hour of work.

"In my country that& #39;s a lot of money!" If you& #39;re charging 1st world clients, you charge 1st world prices.
"But its mine, I don& #39;t care!" If many of you lower your prices, you& #39;re forcing everyone else to lower as well. Race to the bottom.

"But I will get less clients!" THAT& #39;S THE POINT. You& #39;re supposed to do less work for more money. This is a craft. Your art isn& #39;t made in a factory.
"You& #39;re saying this because you& #39;re a big artist with followers and connections!"
As a matter of fact, I& #39;m not.
I& #39;m an artist with a day job and two universitary careers. My time is limited and so is my energy. Therefore, it& #39;s worth at least the minimum wage.

And so it& #39;s yours.

Yes, when we are starting out it IS hard to get commissions

My advice? Join a community!
It can be our collective (link in our bio), it can be fandom related, a fanzine, a group of artists from your country or city

There are dozens of options
These communities will give you a little boost in followers and friends, and I guarantee you that if you promo yourself a little bit the commissions will start flowing in!

While you wait, build your portfolio, start projects, join hashtags and do challenges!
It can take a little bit of time but keep trying, dont give up and DONT LOWER YOUR PRICES !
You can follow @ThirdWorld_Art.
