Here is your terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad, Friday AB COVID analysis. 1/ (apologies to Alexander).
Yest Case #s 1713. Below Wed& #39;s record count, but still up from last week& #39;s 1626. Ongoing exponential growth, if a titch slower. Positivity remains same as last week& #39;s 9.65%, exactly. 2/
VoCs. Announced 1183 or 69% of total announced cases. Another 96 P1 announced. Highest day to date now 19 Apr at 42 (previously was Apr 1st at 22). Will watch this space closely. Yest& #39;s announced B1617 (Indian var) was tested on March 24... that& #39;s a long time ago. 3/
Hosp inpt +... wait, can I vent here? Yest announced inpt was 398. Today& #39;s # for same day now 415! So the ground keeps shifting. Today& #39;s now 424 (don& #39;t trust that). So last 5 days increases +10/+16/+13/+14/+9, worse than prev reported. Steep rise evident on graph. 5/
ICU equally concerning. +9 to 125 (these #s consistently more accurate). That& #39;s 7.8% rise in one day. 34% rise in one week. If this continues, in 7 days, 168, in 14 days, 225. Inpts also increasing by 24%/week. 6/
I& #39;m not sure what to say folks. Initially I started doing these threads with the hope that if the growth was seen by those in power (and the citizens of AB) they would have to act. Leaders wouldn& #39;t willingly walk their citizens down a path of certain suffering, could they? 7/
But it& #39;s increasingly evident that they can, and they will. So this is now just a recording of needless human illness and death and longCOVID. Simple reporting, rather than successful advocacy. Sorry this has failed, everyone. fin/
Thanks as always to @CBCFletch for (unwittingly) letting me steal his graphs. ultrafin/
