This week has been heavy for Black Americans. My form of self-care today is stealing as much joy as I humanly can by celebrating the Crew-2 launch and thinking forward to the future when I can be among those impacting the world through space exploration. THREAD

The astronauts flew in the SpaceX Crew Dragon named Endeavor. Endeavor is actually the name of my favorite space shuttle! 9/12/1992 Mae Jemison became the first WOC to go to space on NASAs STS-47 mission in Space Shuttle Endeavor. Mae Jemison is one of my biggest inspirations.

As we look forward to the Artemis Moon missions, I get even more inspired. We already got the list of Artemis astronauts which includies Jessica Watkins and Stephanie Wilson! They are 2/3 active Black woman astronauts. 1 of them may be the 1st woman on the moon!

As cool as Mars is, my goal is to walk on the Moon someday. Learning about the Moon can help us understand the past of our beloved Earth better. To know that I may be able to see myself in the first woman who walks the moon ignites me! Representation matters!

The state of the world, individual struggles, and life in general has a way of ripping your inspiration out of you. I’m focusing on the hope of the space industry. Focusing on joining the names I mentioned above.

Thinking forward to how I will impact the world and space industry someday. Praying that i can accomplish all the dreams my heart desires. These thoughts bring me joy and I’m stealing as much joy as I can!

This is just me sharing and I understand it’s a prielege to be able to “focus on the good” right now. I don’t particularly that anybody needs this but I do hope someone is inspired to focus on the dreams of their future today, too. And steal some joy.
