Storytime:

I am being sued for an auto accident that occured 100+ miles away from me
So a couple days ago someone left this ominous notice on my parent's door
holy crap what did I do???
I quickly called the provided number

"Hi, this is Zachary. I got a notice about urgent legal documents?"

"Yes, I can't reveal any details but please provide us your address"

"Are you with law enforcement?"

"Yes, but don't worry, you're not in trouble"
I must have a guilty conscience because at this point I get really paranoid

Did I not pay my taxes?

Do I have enemies?

Might the scam robocalls I've been ignoring been genuine?

Am I about to be arrested in a sting operation for pirating Kanye albums to my iPod 5 years ago?
I take advice from friends of mine and call the local police department to double-check I'm not being scammed or something

College Station Police says they're not involved

Bryan Police say it's not them

Brazos County Sheriff Department says it's not them either??
I call the provided number again and they clarify they're NOT the police, just a PI firm payed by a mysterious third party to deliver me urgent legal documents

I tell them I'll be home at 1:10 the next day — at this point I'm equal parts curious and anxious 😳
My hour of my judgement has finally arrived

A buff guy wearing a bluetooth earpiece hands me a stack of papers and wishes me a good day
The big reveal:

note: I live 100+ miles away from San Marcos and I've never even had a fender bender
So apparently some guy who's been threatening to sue my brother over an auto accident last year accidentally SUED THE WRONG PERSON

DUDE GOT THE WRONG HUNDLEY
My bro didn't give a fake name or anything and he's been in touch with the plaintiff for months

We're on the same insurance plan though which must have been what roped me into this mess

Absolutely ridiculous
note: my brother is not at fault in the first place and I doubt either of us will end up in court over this 🤦‍♂️
I didn't mean to block replies on this thread but tbh it's probably better I don't answer questions willy nilly about an ongoing legal matter 😆
