The Spiritual Power of Hair — A Thread

the spiritual power of hair shouldn’t be underestimated. hair can channel and funnel energy. your locks can be an important source of power, and can be considered an extension of yourself.

a lot of people, myself included, have a strong attachment to their hair – whereas others treat it with a more care-free and nonchalant attitude. both are completely fine, normal and acceptable.

when you go through a major life change, you may feel the urge to play with your hair, in an attempt to gain back control over yourself and the way that you’re perceived. it is not uncommon to see people seek re-newal by cutting, dying or styling their hair differently.

this makes a ton of sense, given that cutting your hair can be a way of releasing negativity, as your mane can store stagnant energy overtime.

from a yogic perspective, hair allows the individual to raise their Kundalini energy, which increases vitality and intuition. Long hair is also believed to symbolize spiritual maturity, wisdom and strong intuition. Therefore the longer the hair, the better-according to the Yogis.

Yogi Bhajan explains “When the hair on your head is allowed to attain its full, mature length, then phosphorous, calcium and vitamin D are all produced, and enter the lymphatic fluid, and eventually the spinal fluid through the two ducts on the top of the brain.

This ionic change creates more efficient memory and leads to greater physical energy, improved stamina, and patience.”

Additionally, hair is considered to serve the purpose of spiritual antennas. It is believed to channel the sun’s energy (life force) to the frontal lobes of the brain, used for meditation and visualization.
