My intelligence visit to Zamfara.
I and my team set out for an inteligence gathering visit to Zamfara early last month. We covered Gusau, Maradun, Magami Didi, Gumi, Maro, faru, Gidan Dawa, Tsafe, kauranamoda,Bingi etc. The following were my deductions.

1. Farming is the major occupation of the state.
2.Bandits were actually crated to make the state less attractive to foreigners and the common man. This enabled the elites to engage in massive farming and minning in collaboration with the bandits.

3. Locals who engage in farming must pay royalties to these bandits.
4. Villagers and bandits often coexist, provided the villagers don't provide info to military.
5. Any village these bandits attack, just know the village must have cooperated with the military.

6. The identity of the bandits were revealed to be fulanis of Nigerian extraction, however some are from neighbouring African countries.
They live in the forest but always fight the military using the hills as hideouts.
The bandits are currently migrating to other parts of Nig.

7. Their mode of migration are usually through trucks conveying livestocks from North to South.
8. Most of the villages visited have no school, hence children just wander doing nothing. This is a danger in the waiting.
