Instagram Thread 1 - Recency of Impressions

This information came from our webinar with Dina Brodsky who has built her Instagram to almost half a million followers and regularly sells from IG.
We're going to outline 7 areas that you can easily master to greatly improve your Instagram results. They are:

1. Recency of Impressions
2. Initial Post Engagement
3. Dwell Time
4. Caption
5. Hashtags
6. Timing
7. Giveaways

This thread only covers "Recency of Impressions"
Reminder: To work for you, Instagram should not duplicate but should complement your artist website.

Think of your website as your gallery where you sell your artwork.

Think of your Instagram as the online equivalent of a studio visit.

Post differing content accordingly.
Instagram keeps track of the number of impressions, meaning, how many people see your posts or have commented, liked, shared, or saved your posts over the course of the last 84 days.
If you've been consistently active over the last 84 days, the algorithm will look at all of your engagement as recent and will favor your profile (hence the term "Recency of Impressions")
Make sure you post to Instagram on a regular basis so that you always have recent engagement.

(And remember to post images that make the viewer feel they are in the studio with you, shots over your shoulder, works in progress, you holding a painting, etc)
We suggest you start by posting at least a couple of times per week. More is better, but don't post less than twice a week.

Pay attention to which of your posts get comments, likes, shares and saves and give your audience more of that type of content.
Let me know if you want more content like this in the comments and next week we'll cover the concept of "Initial Post Engagement!"
