Now that NACI's guidance is out I am going to say that unless you are at elevated risk of SARS-2 right now due to life circumstances, I will reiterate that I believe the risks and benefits of AZ vaccine for those under 50 warrant a serious conversation with a healthcare provider.
If you're over 50, by all means, get AZ. It's a good vaccine and your risk of adverse outcome if you do get COVID-19 is elevated.
I'd also call upon Health Canada and public health agencies to be transparent with the public about risk of VITT, which is likely to evolve as we recognize cases. It isn't informed consent if people don't have access to timely, accurate information.
