Recently I've been reflecting on my career and what I consider to be a success. My husband and I were watching a design show, and one of the contestants said she was on the show to prove she was just that, a success.
Her credentials included being a Harvard graduate, working in multiple countries, and owning her own business.

If she didn't consider herself successful based on criteria, what is success?
The idea of success has changed for me, more to include kindness to myself and compassion. At the age of 34, I was disrupted from a company I spent eight years at by being laid off. At 36, I moved out of the only state I'd ever lived in to move 2,000 miles away.
At 40, I completely disrupted my career to go a new direction. At 42, I live in yet another new state and am in another new career.

Lives change, and so do we. So does the idea of success.
At 42, I have accomplished far more than I ever thought a college drop-out would achieve and achieved more than I was ever taught to dream of.
So what have I learned in my career reflection? Age is just that, a moment in time. Your career will evolve as you evolve and will continue to grow. Be open to change and the possibility of going in directions you never thought possible.

The only constant in your career is you.
