Hoping someday we can have discussions about the desiring more platonic relationships in SFF beyond "I love shipping too but wouldn't variety be nice," "10 Reasons Platonic Relationships Are Important," and "sibling and family relationships can coexist in narrative with romance"

I don't actually think it's great that people will read any relationship between two people as romantic-sexual unless things (sometimes) prevent it like blood relation or their being otherwise romantically attached; even saying they're not into each other is read as no means yes

I don't actually think it's great that shipping is socially core to the experience of enjoying any narrative and wanting to talk about it with other people in fandom, I think shipping being _the_ dominant lens of analysis warps how we talk about stories in a way I really dislike
