Hi...today I want to put out an ordeal that I went through while sourcing Remdesivir for a stranger...please read the whole thread for complete context 1/n

So this person(lets call them A) who has been God sent and is helping a lot of people all over India gave me a lead ( lets call him B) of someone who could help me procure the Remdesivir injection.. Reluctantly B decided to help us, he was the one who asked us how soon do you 2/n

need the medicine and we said the sooner the better. Please note at no point did we push him to arrive at a particular time..he first promised to provide the medicines at 8 PM on Wednesday at Goregaon station and he would soon give us the name and number of the person who 3/n

would hand over the medicines to us ( this was on Wednesday 5 PM).we didn't receive any response from him till 7.15 -7.30, I called him wherein he said he will try by tonight and 8 PM might not be possible..to which again I offered him to come to him and make it convenient 4/n

for him since we understood his exhaustion and how busy he might be...again at night we were told that the medicine would reach the patient by 7.30 am next day ( Thursday) to which we again offered that he need not travel till Vasai and we can get the medicines picked up from 5/n

him to which he said he would drop it to the hospital in Vasai where the patient was admitted. and said the name and number of the person dropping off the medicine would be texted late into the night..by next morning when we didn't receive any name or number from him..I tried 6/n

contacting him he replied at 9 am that the medicine would reach before 10 am which again didn't happen and all through this we were patient with him and never said anything untoward to him because we understood his situation and at such a time all of us should help each other 7/n

Another important fact that before all this he had taken an advance of Rs.2000 from us, the final cost of 2 vials was Rs.6000 and had given a copy of his Aadhar card as security..when the medicine didn't reach Vasai till 11 I called him and he said they would reach before 12 8/n

at 12.45 PM when still there was no sign of him, I called him and he said he will he there in 15-20 mins which we agreed to, at that point the patient's son decided to reach the hospital to pick up the medicine. since it is a Covid hospital the son was not allowed to stay at 9/n

at the hospital with his father..now again there was no sign of him till 2.15 PM. He didn't answer my calls and asked for the number of the person who is going to pick up the medicine which I provided immediately..at 3 PM when I spoke to the son of the patient he said that 10/n

( the lead) had spoken to him and would reach soon which was reassuring. But at 3.45 PM I again got a call from the son who said he still hasn't reached. When I called (the lead) he said that he will reach in 10 mins but that didn't happen and and then after another 30 mins 11/n

when the patient's son called him he still said he will take another 10 mins and when I came to know of this I called the lead after another 15 mins and asked how much time will it take since it has been almost 4 hours that the patient's son is waiting outside the hospital 12/n

and again the lead promised to reach within 10 mins. .and after that when he didn't reach we tried calling him and he wasn't answering and disconnecting our call and after that I got in touch with the person who had given me the contact ( A) and informed them about the 13/n

whole incident where in no way we wanted to bother A or involve them in the whole situation. I wanted to inform A about what I had gone through so that other people do not have to go through what I went through if A gave out his contact for help again 14/n

I told A that I had no option but to tag Mumbai Police on Twitter and share my experience since the lead was totally incommunicado after promising to reach within 10 minutes for the last 4 hours but A told me that they will intervene to get this sorted and not go to the cops 15/n

Which I agreed to and they were kind enough to get my 2K back from the lead but all the while defending the lead that they are under a lot of stress and are humans too which I totally understood and said that him not delivering was not the problem 16/n

The problem was that the lead made the patient's son wait on the road for 4 hours promising to reach within 10 mins every time and then becoming unreachable...if he would have told us even once that he will not be able to manage the injections...we would have left it at that 17/n

But he gave false hopes to a son waiting for a medicine which is crucial in saving his father's life...when that son realized that the injection will not come he almost had tears in his eyes and after all this we had to understand that the lead was human and exhausted 18/n

After I had this discussion with A on DM...They were kind enough to gives me a few more leads but a little later I saw a tweet posted by them on their timeline about how they are stuck in the middle of this mess and said that the lead needed few more hours 19/n

to arrange the injection and I threatened to file a police complaint because of that...it was the helplessness of the situation that made me consider that option which I immediately dropped after A asked me not to and the claim that the lead needed more time is also false 20/n

Since he kept saying that the medicine is with him he will
reach in a few minutes...even if he had told us once that it is not possible for him to arrange we would have left him alone but he kept on giving us his deadlines and kept on breaking them 21/n

Upon reading A's tweets I was called ungrateful by some of their followers which did hurt me as like them even I am trying to help strangers. The claimed that they didn't deserve this and this is not why they started helping so that way even I don't deserve 22/n

to be called ungrateful since people don't know my side of the story while A claimed that the lead was helpful to more than 100 people they referred him to. I am writing this whole incident to get closure for myself and have no expectations of this reaching people who 23/n

called me ungrateful as I don't have as many followers as A. Finally I understand that A is doing a great job and helping put and saving so many lives so kudos to them and will support them as our goals are the same 24/n

It is 2 days since this whole situation happened and we still haven't found Remdesivir for the 60 year old man admitted in that Vasai hospital..so if any of you have any leads that are dependable then please let me know...Thank you 25/25
