At @Wikimedia we've been studying bias in ML for some time. Some mitigations are well-known. @zoom needs to do better. https://wikimediafoundation.org/news/2019/07/18/designing-ethically-with-ai-how-wikimedia-can-harness-machine-learning-in-a-responsible-and-human-centered-way/
It's shocking (if sadly unsurprising) for such errors to made, especially in forums educating voters. Folks should carefully review @zoom closed-captioning, especially when it's going to be part of the permanent record of an event.
