“If you are looking for Section 8, then this is not the property for you.”

Landlord to one of our undercover investigators who was asking if they accept vouchers.
If I ever write a book on housing, I’m still titling it “Not a hope in hell,” which is what one broker told our tester in another investigation.
Here’s the recording of the “not a hope in hell” broker https://twitter.com/aaronAcarr/status/1371497205283106820?s=20
Because Section 8 isn’t an entitlement, voucher holders only have a certain amount of time to find a home before their voucher expires + they lose the opportunity to achieve affordability + escape homelessness (attached).

Housing discrimination results in the loss of vouchers.
But voucher discrimination isn’t just a housing issue, it’s a food issue.

Families and individuals who are able to use their vouchers spend significantly less on rent and, thus, significantly more on food.

Also when a tenant loses their voucher due to discrimination it impacts both that family and the economy.

Less $ for food = more suffering for that family.

Less $ for food = less revenue for their local grocery store.

Housing discrimination screws everyone.
