If anyone is interested, I thought maybe we could do a thread of your favorite shower access hacks

Whether it's hard to shower because of pain, dysautonomia, depression, ADHD, whatever

Feel free to share your favorite ways to make getting clean more accessible

My executive dysfunction shower access hack involves recruiting a trusted loved one to "body double" or just keep me company while I bathe

Because somehow this tends to avoid the "starting tasks is too hard" part of my brain

But this also requires a lot of access intimacy
The other thing that helps me when my brain has been the primary thing making showering difficult

Is to tell myself that I don't actually have to do anything in the shower, I can just stand/sit there if that's all I've got that day

Sometimes it's easier once I've started
Also like I said, I've gotten pretty good at just washing with a damp washcloth and soap or wipes or whatever

Especially when I'm just too tired to actually shower
The other thing is that if like, the water or soap or shampoo is physically painful for your skin

Like, itchy, burnt, uncomfortable, leaves you with a rash, etc

I have discovered this isn't typical and might be a sign I'm allergic to the soap or whatever I'm using
I have apparently a really strong inflammatory response to chlorine or something in my tap water

And so we put in a shower filter and now showering is like, 50% less awful

(I still have POTS, so I don't think it's ever going to be easy)
