Don't want to do this either, but let's take this LONG 🧵 more or less tweet-by-tweet.

First, "the atrocities in Xinjiang" is assumed here as a given, presented without any evidence. At least we should know which accusations we're talking about. https://twitter.com/mike_mazza/status/1385593229563793409
Was going to let the reader decided for themselves if this thread my Mike Mazza is a good faith answer to the Sachs/Schabas article, or not, but as we'll see, his thread is so obviously biased that I have to skip it this time. https://twitter.com/mike_mazza/status/1385593231010897926?s=20
@NickKristof dubs it the Genocide Olympics, and he cites organizations that call for boycott. The citation can as well be understood as giving an overview of the ongoing discussion. Sachs/Schabas could've easily cited other pundits making this case… https://twitter.com/mike_mazza/status/1385593232172720131?s=20
…such as @mike_mazza himself! His pinned tweet calls for a boycott because of "genocide", and he's written even a report for the @AEI, a neoconservative think tank. Maybe he just feels jealous for not getting his deserved place in the spotlight?
Oh no, they only cited the view that prevailed and was published, and not those losers who couldn't force their point!! Which perhaps might be related to the fact that the evidence for their view is rather flimsy. https://twitter.com/mike_mazza/status/1385593233946947585?s=19
Sachs/Schabas make no statement about other charges or the level of detail in the State Department report, they simply cite the main conclusion: IT'S NOT GENOCIDE. Stop coping, Mike!

The next is also gold: "Literally NOTHING excuses the ongoing crimes, however we define them." Taken seriously, this would entail an ultra-pacifist position based on deontological ethics, where no end justifies the means (also "crimes" asserted without presenting any proof again)
This is rich from an analyst working for the @AEI, one of the most evil organizations of our time, complicit in the build-up of the Iraq war through figures such as Cheney and Perle, and that still is associated with Wolfowitz, one of the major architects of this criminal war.
Then some weird comparison with Trump. You have nothing better, Mike? https://twitter.com/mike_mazza/status/1385593245175062529?s=20
Next, the question of intent. The reference is this @ForeignPolicy article by @PLMattis. But already his first argument, the famous "Break their roots" quotation, is completely taken out of context, and wrongly translated. That's the quality of their "proof of intent".
Then we get to birthrates, citing @VOANews. You couldn't find anything less obviously posing as literal US propaganda? Really?

Ok, let's deal with the claims actually: the ominous 47.8% drop. But it's dropping to what, to about the birthrate of Germany? Is this also genocide? https://twitter.com/mike_mazza/status/1385593257250410497?s=20
"But such a harsh drop?" Yes, there are historical examples with comparable drops in comparable situations, meaning rapid modernization with extension of women rights to work and education. https://twitter.com/abovetheclouds/status/1364943029350588426?s=20
