The guilty verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin announced this week is a step in the right direction, and should be celebrated for what it is - accountability in the face of a system that perpetuates injustice.
Minnesota deserves better. True justice is in the life of George Floyd - the life of Daunte Wright, of Philando Castile, of Ma’Khia Bryant, and so many others.
To that end, at the beginning of the home opener on Saturday, April 24th, Wonderwall will be observing nine minutes and 29 seconds of silence to honor the lives of George Floyd and all others lost to police brutality and systemic racism.
Please join us in remaining silent for the first 9:29 of Saturday’s game against Real Salt Lake.
