INTRO TO THE ASTEROID FAMA: A THREAD 🪡
WHAT IS FAMA?

Fama is an asteroid that was discovered in 1895 by German astronomer Max Wolf. Its name comes from the Roman goddess of fame, infamy, and gossip.
In Roman mythology, Fama was known to spread any news or information, whether it be favorable or unfavorable. Fama’s placement in the birth chart indicates where we can find prominence, whether it be fame or infamy.
Something that’s important to note is that a strongly aspected Fama doesn’t necessarily indicate wealth. The querent would have to have strongly aspected wealth asteroids, such as Midas or Abundantia, or Fama in the 2h + Venusian or Taurus influence.
The importance of knowing our Fama placement is that it lets us know where we’ll find prominence in this lifetime. It explains why some people want to be famous and others don’t - it explains how and why we want to be known, whether it be among peers or worldwide.
For example, someone with Fama in 8° Virgo in the 4H likely doesn’t want to be a celebrity with lots of attention on themselves, whereas someone with 17° Fama in Aries in the 10H will want to be seen and known.
Of course, aspects matter here BIG TIME. Similarly to some other asteroids, Fama’s themes won’t be of importance to the chart holder if they don’t make any major aspects to the inner planets or angles.
The other side of Fama is that it could work alongside the Midheaven to explain why someone might have a certain reputation. Since Fama is the goddess of gossip, the placement can indicate where we’re the subject of gossip - which impacts our reputation (MC).
Someone with Fama square Mars in the 12h might deal with vicious gossip, whereas someone with Fama sextile Venus in the 5h may be someone who is rather well liked.
