THREAD: Conservative we should talk about race. It took me time to learn this but, yes, black people are at certain disadvantages. I know you do not want to hear it, I did not either. But facts do not care about your feelings, remember?

Police, and people in general, do deal with black men in a way they do not deal with white men often. Not all the time. There is not anything or any group where you can claim "always" or "never." Stop it. Things vary.

Derek Chauvin may not be guilty of murder, I do not think he is, but if you do not think manslaughter, or think he did not do anything wrong, I do not know how to reach you. George Floyd's drug use, record, etc... do not matter. An officer should not do what he did that long.

Slavery was evil. We all know this. But I ask you to research redlining. That is what has black people at a disadvantage in 2021, more than slavery. It was also evil and not talked about enough.

In our parent's lifetime, one generation ago, black people could not vote. They were beaten and hosed for asking for the same rights we have. One generation ago. You think that does not matter? It does. When your parent or grandparent can tell you a first hand story it matters.

Black people should work harder? Ok. Research Black Wall Street. Look it stinks and I know it. We want everyone to start right now and treat everyone the same. But we have to address and offer solutions to these issues.

None of what I listed excuses criminality. But it does help to explain some of it. If we can address it we can change it. We ignore it at our own peril. We cannot be "great" until we are good.
