Comparing the US to super safe countries like Iceland & Japan is absurd. A more realistic comparison would be to Brazil, El Salvador or the Philippines: countries w/ ultra high crime have higher rates of corresponding police violence. The issue is crime. https://twitter.com/samswey/status/1385601612303921153
It's like comparing Palo Alto to Oakland with a bar graph showing Palo Alto has lower police shootings than Oakland. Uhh maybe there's a poverty and crime issue you're ignoring here.
The U.S. had over 20,000 murders in 2020, that's many times more than the entire U.S. military casualties of the Iraq war, an exponentially higher murder rate per capita than Japan or Iceland. Claiming the issue here is simply police is out of touch with our epidemic of violence.
