. @BrianLehrer please #AskTheMayor why some schools refuse to kids who opted back in return to the classroom. A District 1 elementary flat out refused to take a friend's kid back claiming they can't figure out lunch. This is against your rules and claims that schools are open.
This is a progressive school in east village, right next to a park. They claim "guidance" re: 6 ft for lunch and 3 ft for class needs to come from DOE. #AskTheMayor if this is correct. Many schools solved the issue. Total refusal of opted-in kids seems illegal and unacceptable.
I would like @NYCMayor to clearly state on your show that kids who opted in *must* be provided with the opportunity to return to the classroom. Otherwise, school opening is just a sham and parents cannot trust anything he and @DOEChancellor communicate. Please #AskTheMayor.
. @BrianLehrer you need to push back on the Mayor's claim now. It is not true that "most elementary schools" are going to 5 days a week. See this thread I just posted. It is not an isolated incident either. #askthemayor please.
