I'm fine in here.
Truth be told, in a lot of ways prison is not the worst place in the world. Well it's certainly not the most uncomfortable place in the world at least.
They offer creature comforts and give you just enough to keep you from rising up while at the same time taking just enough to keep you down.
The oppression is slow and subtle, taking its form in the way we can only use the bathroom at certain times of the day.
That was a right now it's a privilege
It's telling you when you can eat the slop they provide and all but spoonfeed you
It's stopping your visit because you show your loved ones affection
It's being told they need your seat in the chow hall after you've only been sat down for 4 minutes
It's being thrown in ""the hole"" for trying to break up a fight
It's being told to walk faster when you're locked down 23 hours a day and are simply trying to get some fresh air on the way back from chow
It's being forced to live in a closet with another adult male
It's having your privileges taken away from you as a result of someone else's bad decisions
It's living in a world where Spam is a luxury and a serving of tuna costs 3 days' wages
It's not always overt but it's the cumulative, the poking, the prodding that adds up.
It's much like water torture each drip on its own is miniscule but it adds up and eventually each drop feels like a nail being hammered through your forehead
Yes, I'm fine if you want to know.
I'm not in any immediate danger, but my soul is being crushed more and more with each passing moment in here
That's what I got to say if anyone wants to know how I am
