I used to think when I was younger that women had equality and that I had nothing to worry about. We got the vote right? But it&
#39;s the slow chip-chip-chip away that is the issue. It&
#39;s the little things, that one at a time don&
#39;t feel like much but it adds up. 1/
It&
#39;s seeing senior positions filled with few women, and inferring that it&
#39;s not for you too. It&
#39;s being catcalled at conferences, or in my case it being assumed I am not a scientist. It&
#39;s being asked to take notes, not lead. It&
#39;s being spoken over. 2/
It&
#39;s being thought of a bitch for being "too outspoken". It&
#39;s feeling unsafe walking home at night on our own. It&
#39;s being categorised as "too emotional". It&
#39;s seeing less women getting funding, and awards and praise. It just keeps on chipping away. It&
#39;s systemic. 3/3
