Izu has a ugly little doll growing up that he just adores, but Kats HATES it.
Izuku always gives it attention, but all that attention should be on him and only him. So one day he grabs the doll and steals it without Deku noticing.
He makes sure to bury it as far as he-
can dig with his little hands and mini shovel in his backyard.
Its an ugly little thing. A bunny made from wirey fabric and button eyes and Katsuki just really hates it. Why would Izuku like such an ugly thing?
When it’s finally buried underground, the blonde can finally rest
easy knowing that all of Izukus attention will be on him now. But boy was he wrong.
The next time hes taken to aunty Inkos for a play date, Izuku is basically lifeless. He lays on the couch sniffling and curled up.

“Play with me!” Kats yells, tugging Izukus arm. “Whats wrong?!”
“Kacchan, I lost my bunny,” Izuku whimpers, voice thick with emotions. “I lost my bunny....” he looks for any comfort he has, extending his arms for a hug.

Katsuki stares at him blankly, his body moving on its own before he’s hugging Izuku, letting the other boy cry on him.
He rubs his back just like his mommy does to him and stares at the wall. Jeez, why is he so sad over that ugly thing? Katsuki was expecting five star service when he got here but now hes just holding Izuku. “Forget that thing,” Bakugo huffs, hugging Izuku tighter. “You have me.”
“Y-you’re a bunny Kacchan?” Izuku asks, snuggling into Katsukis shoulder.

“I’m not a bunny, you’re a bunny!” Katsuki huffs. “I’m a lion!”

“But lions eat bunnies,” Izuku whimpers, fresh tears springing out of his eyes.
“Not this lion! I protect bunnies like you,” Katsuki proclaims, patting Izukus back. “So forget about that stinky bunny. You have me!”

Izuku pulls back and wipes his puffy eyes. “Really?”

“Really!”
Its easy for Izuku to forget about the bunny after that. And for a while, so does Bakugo.
It isn’t until years later, their first wedding anniversary coming up that Bakugo suddenly remembers the little thing.
That ugly little bunny doll.

He buries countless holes in his backyard looking for it. And when he finally finds it, it’s in pretty bad shape. But he’s damn well going to try and fix it.
He has to custom order fabrics, order similar buttons, learn how to sew, how to apply all these stupid little details. All for Izuku.
He feels kind of stupid gifting him something which he stole from him, but something tells him the nerd will love this.
And by the time hes done with it, he can’t even stand to look at it.

Thats how he knew he did a good job.

When he gifts it to Izuku, theres a whole new set of tears and kisses waiting for the him.
Just like he thought, the nerd loved it.

“Did you remake this?! How did you find another one?!” Izuku is so happy, clutching his toy close to him like he used to do when he was a child. “How Kacchan?!”
Katsuki sheepishly looks away and explains what he had done as a kid, and much to his surprise, Izuku doesn’t get mad. In fact, his husband puts the toy down and wraps his arms around his neck, leaning up to peck his lips.
“Why am I not surprised?”

“Cause you know damn well I hated that thing.” Katsuki huffs with a small pout.

“You hate it, but you still brought it back for me. In better conditions than when it was taken Kacchan,” Izuku realizes.
“Well, it wasn’t always like that.”

“I know, you must have worked hard for it,” Izuku smiles, nuzzling under his chin. “But y’know, I don’t need my little toy to protect me anymore.”

“And why is that?” Katsuki grins, wrapping his arms around Izukus waist and pulling him closer.
“Cause once upon a time, a strong lion promised me that he’ll protect me.” Izuku coos, making Katsukis grin grow wider as his cheeks turn a soft hue of pink. “And I don’t think I can ever go a day without him by my side.”
