Will try to bring some clarity to the on going covid second wave

Yes, the situation is bad but don't panic

(1/n)
1. Why more cases?

No one knows what causes 2nd waves. Won't be the last wave also but like every cloud with a silver lining, it won't be as intense as the 2nd

Not saying 2nd wave is to be taken lightly but can believe that the worst part of storm will go in 2-3 months

(2/n)
3. Should we be afraid of new variants?

New Variant means the virus has mutated to escape the body defense mechanisms

So it means more people Wil be positive. Including children and young adults which we are seein

Means you are more likely but that's not the full picture (3/n)
Every age group has its OWN immunity once they get infected. That is why there are more serious cases in younger age groups.

Virus has not increased in deadliness directly but it is able to infect more people due to mutation & once they get, depends on individual immunity(4/n)
So now you know why there are more cases.

Yes, the explanation does not give much of optimism but at least it gives clarity of why this is happening (5/n)
Even though it has not increased in deadliness, it can infect more people in vulnerable age groups - that has caused more severe cases

Because mutation causes easier entry, symptoms are more (6/n)
Hence mild and moderate symptoms like breathlessness have also increased

So home quarantine is not as effective as before

(7/n)
However the virus does NOT cause new symptoms. This virus mainly attacks the lungs and causes blood clots.

As explained before, it causea symptoms faster.

But these are not new. Because it's coming faster, many are seeing it for first time

No need to panic on that (8/n)
Should we feel guilty that we might give covid to others?

Absolutely NOT. Everyone will get covid. That is the nature of the illness. It's now because of you. It's because human movement cannot be restricted beyond a limit. Life Will go on and sadly covid is part of it (9/n)
Should we be scared that Variant virus cannot be detected by routine test?

No. Even if swab misses, ct can pick up and even if both negative, doctor's will advise you to monitor yourself and see if you or anyone in family get symptoms

AGAIN no need to panic here (10/n)
Do masks work?
Yeah they do. Even if they are not 100% effective, it can help you till you get a vaccine

(11/n)
11. Do vaccines work?

Yes. I'm not doing to debate on different vaccines but if you get covishield, close your eyes and take (12/n)
12. Is there value in social distancing and sanitizing?

Yes but again it is not yet 100% but should help till you get vaccine

(13/n)
13,. How to boost immune system?

You CAN'T. Immune system is something that evolves slowly through many decades

Yoga, diet is not gonna do anything!

Stay hydrated! Covid or not

(14/n)
15. Should I panic if I'm positive?

NO. 60-70% of cases can be managed with low dose steroids and blood thinner if needed

If you're okay for 5 days after being positive, mostly you won't have any issues (15/n)
16. Is remdisivir essential?

No!!!!

It only improves outcomes in small subset of patients and it decreases days in hospital more than having effect on saving from severe complications

You don't have to demand it!

(16/n)
Does plasma, hydroxychloroquine work?

No. That is just eye wash. Don't fall for it. No matter which celebrity asks for plasma (17/n)
What should I do now?

Wear a mask. Get vaccinated. Avoid crowded areas (18/n)
What should govt do?

1. Ensure vaccines for all above 18

2. Make protocol for vaccines for new born to age 16

3. Arrange proper tankers and cylinders for oxygen. There is Actually proper oxygen production. Only transport is issue

4. Arrange make shift beds

(19/n)
