Bishop Barron continues his tour against the racial justice movement and this time he tries to say the Catholic Church condemned the practice of slavery even though there many violations of the teaching. Fact check: Pope Paul III Sublimis Deus encyclical was promulgated in 1537.
After that encyclical, 11.2 million Africans were forcibly removed from the continent of Africa and enslaved in the Americas, with around 450,000 coming to the US. The Catholic Church supported this enslavement of Africans and Catholics all over the Americas owned people.
