I might make a thread of the many ways that Emmerich and Sarnoff being gifted control of hbomax failed this app, set it back months, if not years, all for egotistical Anti-ZS reasons but here's one of the ways they did it. Till now, any trailer on hbomax ends with an ad for WW84.
EVERY ONE. I just checked their latest trailer for the new conjuring film and it ends with, you guessed it. An ad for WW84; a film that came out in Dec last year.
So not only did hbomax REFUSE to acknowledge the #SnyderCut when it was released, REFUSE to divulge it's viewership,-
-REFUSE to acknowledge the subs they got from it, REFUSE to promote it, REFUSE to mention it, REFUSE to capitalize on the goodwill everyone was giving it, REFUSE to capitalize on the records it was breaking worldwide to promote their own app, but every single time ppl saw a max--
-trailer for a film, even right now, on April 23, they were being sold on/conditioned to a film from Dec 2020; Wonder Woman 84. Not the film breaking records worldwide, with everyone asking for it's sequels, no, it's the film ppl were lukewarm on that's still being advertised.
And yet, some morons would like to say the #SnyderCut failed in some way in the face of all this but it did NOT.
Inspite of all this, its responsible for the Q1 growth since GvK came on the last day of Q1. Crashing hbomax was due to traffic & more ppl were positive on it, which--
-was more than was expected. Every host service outside the US attested to it breaking their renting, buying & streaming records. All of which a smarter company, being run by smarter ppl that are definitely not called Emmerich & Sarnoff, would have seized on. Instead, we got--
--a hitpiece against the fans and against victims of WB execs' abuse of power, barely 5 days after the release of the #SnyderCut . A smarter company would have made sure the it was being released on hbomax worldwide and if not, weaponized it's performance in foreign markets--
--to bring attention to themselves but like I said, IF it were smarter execs. Hell, back in 2020, the implication was that hbomax would be worldwide by the time the #SnyderCut was released...it wasn't. And Emmerich & Sarnoff didnt seem to be in too much of a hurry to correct this
And let's remember even by the end of February 2021, no plans were yet in place to distribute this film outside NA, plans wouldn't start being made till March. And Snyder said WB didn't think intl audiences were interested in the film. Does this look like ppl who wanted success?
So on top of all these screw ups..deliberate screw ups, or more appropriately, deliberate sabotage attempts, they were promoting a film from last year while playing mute hermit on their current hit; the #SnyderCut and you think its the film's fault that they didn't hit some--
--manufactured metric based on expectations for a film they did everything in their power to not promote? Please.
It was a success in spite of them and hbomax performed above wall street expectations. Thanks to the #SnyderCut .
If anything is found wanting, it's these execs--
--fumbling of this app. Hell, many people signed on to the app before launch since last year, just bc the #SnyderCut was announced. None of that seems to matter tho. And none of the subs or views it got hbomax in Q1 is even being credited to it. With this belligerent approach to-
--treating fans that even hbomax is displaying, who do they think will sign up when they finally become available worldwide? We already know we're not valued & every bit of goodwill be be spat on bc the absolute dumbest & racist execs in studio history were given power over it.
