Black people don’t get to rest even in death. Their deaths become teachable moments for society
Since the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial I’ve been feeling bothered and I realized why. George Floyd’s death has been painted at this sacrifice for justice and getting people to realize how bad things were in the US
The families don’t get to rest either.
I read that the Floyd family attended the funeral of Duane Wright along with the family of Emmett Till, Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend and other families impacted by police violence. None of these families really get a chance out of the public spotlight to just grieve and heal
But also in death the victims of police brutality have every aspect of their lives examined under a microscope
