I like the Wilkinson piece responding to Goldberg, and I'm coming around on WW in generally (or maybe he's just getting better, idk) but this paragraph strikes me as deeply mistaken
The option that leaves 6 people disappointed is a lot better than the one that leaves 4 disappointed if the 6 like the outcome only slightly less but the 4 have food allergies that would send them to the hospital if they ate at the other place!
For all of his well-taken arguments about the necessarily political nature of defining and enforcing rights, let's not pretend that 50%+1 is the best option 100% of the time because of simple math
Indeed to suggest otherwise is to suggest not that the contours and scope of rights are irreducibly political, but that there are none at all. That seems to set Goldberg up for a pretty easy spike
