I worked with someone for two years who consistently spelled my name wrong. It rubs me the wrong way for several reasons:
1. It was in my signature block.
2. I told her about it
3. I& #39;m already using a shortened form of my name because "Amandia-Ann" was apparently too hard. 1/5
People say that it isn& #39;t that big of a deal...but it is. As a child, teachers had difficulty pronouncing my name. It is not a hard name it is just different. They didn& #39;t even try so I shortened my name to make it easier on them. 2/5
Many of us have had to alter our names to make it easier on others when we really shouldn& #39;t and we are not obligated to do so. If you don& #39;t know how to pronounce or spell someone& #39;s name ASK THEM. They would be more than happy to help you with it. 3/5
We have all spelled names or pronounced names incorrectly. When we do the podcast, we try and listen to do the correct pronunciation before saying it. I don& #39;t always get it right but it is up to me to ask people how to properly say or spell their name. 4/5
My frustration is with people who don& #39;t make an effort or who have been told. I dated a Polish guy and I learned "Wojtek" is pronounced "Voy-tech". Now, I can apply what I have learned. Do you have a name that is mispronounced or spelled incorrectly? What are your thoughts? 5/5
