On this #WorldBookDay, recounting my love story with books. My dad would take me to the raddiwaala (scrap dealer) during summers & let me to buy as many comics as possible in Rs. 100 (a huge sum in those days for a middle-class family with a solo earner) 1/n
I used to devour those books - Champak, Chandamama, Indrajal comics, Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle, Archie, etc. - during the vacations, and also make them last through the year till the next summer vacations. 2/n
My comics were my constant companions and only solace during the bitter days in school. They were my "safe place" and lunch-time companions (I know it's a bad habit to read while eating, but that gave me happiness then). 3/n
Now, with the responsibilities of adulthood, reading has slowed down, but I do catch up - on my Kindle Paperwhite. Happy to say, my kid has also taken after me on this and loves to read a lot.🙂
