Anyways ppl saying tony stark dying in endgame is the "perfect ending to his arc" are objectively wrong from a writing standpoint and think self sacrifice is the best way to make a character arc "Deep & Profound"
so many bland ass takes abt iron mans self sacrifice being meaningful sorry u never watched Iron Man 1, Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War tony was sacrificing himself for the greater good all the time him dying in EG was 100% russos "leaving their mark"doing something shockin
Like russos straight up admitted they had to BEG rdj to let them kill off tony in EG. Tony stark dying did NOTHING for his fuckin "character arc" when he sacrifices himself all the damn time& was a huge disservice to the Avengers franchise
The mf point of the Avengers is united they are strong, the message is teamwork, there were 6 stones for 6 OG Avengers & these stupid mfs couldnt even do the math. As a Tony stan? The Avengers ensemble movies shouldnt be the Tony Stark Show feat. his pals
From a writing standpoint, the REAL profound move woudlve been for ALL 6 OG Avengers to use the stones together to defeat thanos. GOTG1 was a perfect leadup to the possibility of this final move AND it wouldve been the perfect character growth arc/conclusion for tony
Tonys a control freak who has the type-A I-Need-To-Get-This-Done mentality, which is why him trusting Steve to lead is huge. The point of his character writing shouldve been that YOU as an individual are NOT responsible to carry world on ur shoulders, trust & work as a team
THE POINT OF THE AVENGERS FROM A WRITING STANDPOINT SHOULD BE TEAMWORK, NOT "TONY STARK SAVES THE DAY" WORK. Tonys self sacrifice makes me all the more emotional bcz its so damn frustrating that he was killed off as a gimmick to make ppl think this was some deep profound move
I wouldve been satisfied with Tony dying as long as the scene had all OG 6 avengers wielding the stone together (& ideally all of them dying together bcz i do love 🔪 in my stories) but this...this was just cheap lazy as FUCK writing. Tonys death scene was IMPROV for fucks sake
Self sacrifice+ death isnt the golden grail of deep & meaningful writing. It wouldve been more meaningful for tony stark whos been flirting with death for SO LONG to actually get to live. Or at least die knowing he waa part of a TEAM & he NEEDED them to deliver the final blow
Im fkin tired of seeing this bland ass take like we get it yall got major jesus savior complex fetishes but i promise u a story abt the power of community and teamwork is just as meaningful, if not moreso than "1 guy self sacrifces himself for the 104th time & this time it takes"
Whatever im goin to bed thinking abt how bring back tony sentiment wouldnt be necessary if he actually had died alongside most of the OG6 while wielding the stones together
